ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the influence of class size on teaching and learning of agricultural science in secondary schools in Ila local government. Specifically, the study aims to determine whether class size influences students’ learning of agricultural science in secondary schools in ila local government, Find out whether the qualification of teacher affect the teaching of agricultural science in secondary schools in ila local government and determine whether class size influences academic performance of students in agricultural science in secondary schools in ila local government. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 259 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that Class size affect the teaching and learning of agricultural science in secondary schools in ila local government. The study thereby recommend that federal and State governments should build enough classrooms in schools with adequate facilities needed for effective classroom teaching and learning. Also, in spite of the amazing results of the influence of class size on the academic performance of secondary school students, and the facts that large classes has some advantages it is still recommended that schools should stick to the 40:1 student –teacher ratio as stipulated by the National Policy on education in other to aid the learning of business studies.
